When California became the first state to mandate female representation on boards , the business community dissented, argued, fought and complained. Then they called Coco Brown, the founder of Athena Alliance : a non-profit born from networks of C-level executives on a mission to get women into board seats. What started in 2004 as a series of informal networking dinners has evolved into a power network of 3000 senior women, 256 of whom are being actively groomed to become board members.
